About - Kenmore 2110[2]

The Kenmore 2110[2] is part of the washing machine test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, top-loading washing machine models like the 2110[2] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Washing performance:
This reflects the degree of color change to swatches of fabric that were included in an 8-pound and maximum capacity test load of mixed cotton items using the machines' most aggressive normal cycle. (We do not use special cycle or option buttons.)

Energy efficiency:
This score is based on the energy needed to heat the water for 8-pound and maximum loads using a warm wash and cold rinse. We consider both gas and electric water heaters, and include electricity needed to run the washer and energy needed for drying. Washers that extract more water are scored higher.

Water efficiency:
This score denotes how much water it took to wash our 8-pound load and each machine's maximum load. On models that didn't set the fill level automatically, we used the lowest fill setting that sufficed for the 8-pound load. We then calculated water used per pound of clothing.

I am so disappointed. I purchased the Kenmore M80 series 20 years ago. Never had any problems until recently when it started to leak and the agitator needed a little work. Could have been serviced. I thought what the heck, I'd purchase another Kenmore rather than repairing my old one since it has been reliable the past 20 years. Well I did, I purchased another Kenmore 2110. Boy what a huge mistake. First of all, I was told this was the most similiar to my old one. I was so excited, cause I wanted one where the water still covered the clothes and the cycle was shorter than the new HE machines...Yeah right on the short cycle. Boy did I get bamboozled. The sales person told me 45 minutes on the cycle, boy was I fooled. I can fall asleep and the clothes are still washing, I'm here to tell you ONE HOUR and dont use the heavy cycle SEVENTY FIVE MINUTES,,no kidding,,I just realized that if I add clothes and leave the top open too long, this darn thing starts all over from the beginning. The other day a cycle took almost 2HOURS(LOL),,,cause the lid stayed opened,,,what a joke,,The lid lock is no problem. The hot water is luke warm, which sucks, clothes do not appear too clean,,,Bottom line consumers,,,repair your old one if possible,,,but PLEASE DO NOT purchase this junk,,,it's awful,,,On a side note,,,I was able to get my old one back from the warehouse the day after they delivered my new one,,,but unfortunately my matching dryer was promised and sold to someone else,,,Thinking about repairing my old,,,but will have a mix match unit in the house...

I had a 7 year old Kenmore washer which started giving me problems with the spining cycle. I finally decided to buy and new washer & dryer set. I should have had my old Kenmore 110 series washer repaired. This new washer does NOT get the clothes clean AT ALL since it does not agitate enough, plus the cycle time is extremely LONG...over an hour. There are 7 people in my household so I wash a LOT. My sons play football and their practice clothes get really smelly, which was not a problem with my old machine. Yesterday I washed some of their football clothes & when I took them out of the dryer they still smelled really, really bad- like they had never been washed. This is ridiculous!!!! A brand new washing machine and the clothes still smell????? I will be contacting Sears today to return this piece of JUNK!!!! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT...IT WILL LET YOU DOWN!!!!!

Comment:
I will never purchase another Kenmore produt. My washer was 1 year old and broke down a week later. I have called the service technician given to me by Sears several times and was supposed to receive a trouble shooting guide via email, but have neveer gotten it. I am very frustrated and angry and have nothing good to say about kenmore washers. I really expected my washer to last more than 1 year before breaking down, and since 2-6-12 was the 1 year old mark and I didn't purchase an extended warranty, it will cost me over $130.00 just to have someone look at it, not to mention the cost of parts and labor added onto to that. I will NEVER recommend kenmore products to anyone!!!
