About - Maytag Bravos MVWB850W[ ]

The Maytag Bravos MVWB850W[ ] is a top-loading washing machine available from Maytag. The Bravos MVWB850W[ ] typically costs $950 .

Consumer Reports recommends that you match the features on a model to the needs you have. Here's our take on some of the specifications and features that are commonly available on top-loading washing machine models like the Bravos MVWB850W[ ].

Energy star:
The federal Energy Star program, administered by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, identifies a wide range of home appliances that use 10-50% less energy and water than standard models. These appliances can help you use less energy at home and save money on your utility bills.

Stainless-steel tub:
Tubs constructed of stainless steel are likely to be more durable than plastic or porcelain, and they allow for higher spin speeds. Plastic is the next most durable choice.

Auto temp. control:
This feature automatically mixes hot and cold water to reach the chosen wash temperature (which differs on various makes of washers). It's a good way to compensate for normal variations in tap-water temperature and prevents problems caused by water that's too cold, which keeps detergent from working properly.

Tested Model
The Ratings of Maytag Bravos MVWB750W[Q] were applied to untested model Maytag Bravos MVWB850W[ ], which in our judgment is enough alike in its performance, features, and specs that our test results apply to both.

Comment:
Purchased to replace the rotten Maytag Neptune front loading product and have had no complaints. Cleans clothes without the mold / mildew and excuses from the Maytag salesmen. <br />Will never buy a front loader again no matter how much the technology is supposed to be improved - it cannot be trusted.

Comment:
Unit leaves lint over all of the clothes. Clothes must be washed inside out. Maytag's repair person said, since there was no computer error code that nothing was wrong. Their customer service center implied that we need to do lots of separate washes of like items (all sweatshirts, all jeans, etc.), which is NOT why one chooses an energy efficient unit. We had Asko, LG and Whirlpool front loading high efficiency units that worked perfectly. Would never purchase a washer from Maytag again.

Comment:
Had to replace my 15 yrs old Quiet Plus Maytag washer. Purchased Brovos MVWB850YW0 washer & matching dryer. I'm a short person and am having difficulty reaching into tub since new models are higher. Also the lid hits my cabinets above. I seem to have to use the extra rinse cycle for most loads (including delicates) so I don't understand how I'm saving on water & electricity (will find out with next months bills). Wear cotton clothes and they get very wrinkled in the washer. Wish I had my old machines back.
