Consumer Reports recommends that you match the features on a model to the needs you have. Here's
our take on some of the specifications and features that are commonly available on top-loading washing machine
models like the Bravos X MVWX700X[W].
Energy star:
The federal Energy Star program, administered by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, identifies a wide range of home appliances that use 10-50% less energy and water than standard models. These appliances can help you use less energy at home and save money on your utility bills.
Stainless-steel tub:
Tubs constructed of stainless steel are likely to be more durable than plastic or porcelain, and they allow for higher spin speeds. Plastic is the next most durable choice.
Auto temp. control:
This feature automatically mixes hot and cold water to reach the chosen wash temperature (which differs on various makes of washers). It's a good way to compensate for normal variations in tap-water temperature and prevents problems caused by water that's too cold, which keeps detergent from working properly.
Tested Model
The Ratings of Maytag Bravos X MVWX500X[W] were applied to untested model Maytag Bravos X MVWX700X[W], which in our judgment is enough alike in its performance, features, and specs that our test results apply to both.
This Whirlpool-owned brand is positioned as a durable brand but is priced a bit lower than Whirlpool-branded products. The Maytag brand has two lines, the Epic and Epic Z, which cost $1,000 and $800, respectively.

We have had this washer one 1 Year + 1 month. Fresh out warranty and the timing module is out or doesn't work properly. Have never been able to do heavy loads as advertised because water won't spin out effectively. Now I am looking at a large repair bill; seriously considering replacing. Will NEVER buy Maytag again. I got rid of a 25+ yr old Maytag that worked a lot better than this.

Comment:
everything is great abut it is a really good machine it gets out all stains even when i thought my stuff was ruined it gets it out and bad smells out. I even washed the dogs bed and it came out like new only 2 problems it is a bit noisy but i don't mind it is in my enclosed laundry room.don't wash on hot or clothes sometimes shrink so was on warm washes excellent even in cool. The 1st the lid locks and if you find something else you need to put in you have to wait 1-2 minutes before it senses it to open. the second it bulky blankets have to be spun 2 times but other than that i love it for reverything. I have had mine for almost 2 years..

Comment:
Washer was delivered today and after just 2 loads, my husband says it is going back. A belt loop ripped off a brand new pair of shorts washed on the normal cycle. We stood and watched the first cycle (normal, light load) and although the agitator was aggressive, some clothes did not get sufficiently wet or scrubbed clean. We ran that load again with the bulky cycle just so everything got wet. After hours of research, so disappointed! Hubby says we are going back to a front loader!
