About - Britax Chaperone

The Britax Chaperone is part of the stroller test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, traditional stroller models like the Chaperone are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Ease of use:
Ease of use is based primarily on ease of safety harness use, folding and unfolding, adjusting backrest, lifting and carrying, engaging wheel brakes and car seat removal and installation (only for compatible strollers).

Maneuverability:
Maneuverability was assessed by trained staffers on how well the strollers maneuvered S-turns through cones, narrow sections, grass, dirt trails, uphill, downhill and curbs while walking.

Safety:
Safety is assessed by testing for compliance with the most current version of the standard, ASTM F833-11, and stability and usage tests designed by Consumers Union.

Comment:
I have had the stroller actually collapse while the baby was in it...when my son was younger we used the stroller with the tray in the upward position (I later learned it is not intended to be used like this but there is no warning or notification on the stroller itself)so he could see out and it collapsed to the ground while my step-son was pushing his baby brother! We were lucky he was not harmed!
The wheels often fall off when getting it in and out of the trunk. Have even had them fall off during use!
Not intuitive for both collapsing to store and to open up again. I had to call my husband out of a meeting the first time I tried to collapse it. I have had two different nannies call me for instructions (after being showed once already).
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
