Unit has frozen during use and VERY difficult to reset. No reset button available. Found reset instructions online that require pressing corner for more than 60 seconds or more before unit responds. Was able to reset in past. Most recent freeze not responding to reset process.

The Garmin 255 nuvi is not the biggest or most complicated GPS, but if you're looking for a system that will get you where you're going, and back, it's a very good option. My system came with a lifetime map update card, a considerable savings over models that require you to pay each time you update maps. The 255 has a small screen, but if you have a small car or don't like to pay a lot for gadgets, it's a good option. Bonus: with an optional accessory, you can mount it on the handlebars of your bike.

unreliable - continueously looses satilite
I used it on vacation in Washington D C and Ocean city, Md. It never could lock on to a signal in D C, Once I got out of town it worked intermittently. I never got any help from tech support. I followed the instruction manual to the T. I thought it was going to be a lot of help, but really its an untrusted nuisance.

All aspects including sound, clarity, color, accuracy and points of interest work well

I think the 255 is an excellent entry level GPS that works well and as advertised, however, I think for a few extra dollars, the package should include accessories such as USB and case which are often essential and need to be purchased at a later date.

Strength
Touch the car icon and find out exactly where you are plus info for the nearest police, hospital, and gas. Amazing number of points of interest. Easy to understand voices.
Weakness
Haven't found any yet.
Since some areas ticket for anything attached to the windshield, I wish it came with the portable bean bag mount instead of the suction cup mount. I love the waypoint option, and the ability to search in advance for points of interest (like hotels) near the destination.
