I had to return it.
By BT from Honolulu, HI on 1/6/2010
Pros:
Easy To Read
Cons:
Acquires Satellites Slowly, Complicated Controls, Difficult Menus
Describe Yourself:
Casual User
How are you with directions:
Bad w/Directions
How long have you owned it:
A month or less
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Lane guidance was very useful but it took a long time to acquire the satellite, even in the Atlanta, GA area. I had to keep turning it off to "reset" it before acquiring satellite.

I bought a tomtom 140 S off of [...]. I can say one thing that in the cities it seems to work fine. But once you get out of town the maps are at least 10 years old. In out community we changed all of out route numbers i.e. Route 1 box 285. They were all changed to regular house numbers, just like in the city. This was all part of the Inhanced 911 program. This was from 1998-2004. My Tomtom has none of the new addresses. I called Tomtom and of course they don't do the mapping. The company that does gives out updates once in a while. Other GPS brands do have the updated mapping. Tomtom can't fix this problem. [...] My last comment would be to really check out which GPS you buy and try and make sure it has updated information. This Tomtom doesn't do me much good in the middle of the night trying to look for an anddress in the middle of the unknown.

I have owned Garmins in the past (still do) and they are far more simple to use that the TOMTOM. The routing is hard to figure out and just too confusing for me. The Garmins are so simple and loaded with POI that from now on it will be Garmins only for me.
