Bought this unit to replace a Garmin with a cable issue and what a mistake.

Definite issue with the routing algorithm, it will
-send you circling round and round a block to try to reach your destination.
-tell you to exit a highway then directs you right back on,
-tell me to turn in a certain direction and when you do, tell you to turn around
-send you to non existent POIs

The list goes on and on. I just do not trust this GPS. I always try to check a map before I leave to determine if the route it sends me on is reasonable.

This GPS is slow to find satellites and loses the signal easily in cities with tall buildings.

Doesn't tell you if your destination is on the left or right; this doesn't seem like a big deal but I find it very problematic in busy areas.

It does not tell you if you inadvertently miss a turn etc. It will silently recalculate the route which means that theoretically you are not longer on the fastest route. The Garmin would announce recalculating

I don't find the IQ routes necessarily sends me on the fastest route.

On the plus side it is small and easy to carry around. The menus are not too bad once you figure it out but I do find the POI search options a bit confusing and the results are not always what you expect. The screen is easy to view.

When I received my returned referbished one back. took a trip to Atlanta GA, from Florida. Very poor directions, I was sent into areas where I felt unsafe
On the Straight road back home I 75 twise I was told to take an exit to a different direction, I ignored it, then a message appeared on the screen to sign up for a paid map upgrade.
No woman should ever purchase this. You are not safe with this TOMTOM

Could not download new maps or voice. Customer service rep Vironice worked with me for hours, very helpful. the disignated voice for this model is Susan, could not find voice for this Model.I was told this model should be returned to TomTom after I uploaded my purchase receipt. Another C/S rep told me to get an ending letter T or MHave not received my new one yet from the Mfg, I am elderly and need to get to and from destination in a safe manner, not having to stop for directions. This is a safety matter for me. Fingers crossed. Will let you know how I make out with my replacement
