General Electric toasters
A short circuit can occur between heating element and bread cage, risking fire and electrical shock.
Products: 210,000 GE toasters sold at Wal-Mart stores from 9/07 through 7/08 for between $17 and $28. Models are the four-slice (#169115) and two-slice (#169116), with chrome steel body and black plastic base and controls. Wal-Mart has had 140 reports of fires or sparks or toasters tripping a circuit breaker.
What to do: Stop using the toaster and return to any Wal-Mart for a refund or replacement toaster. Call 800-925-6278 or go to www.walmartstores.com.

Regent Sports soccer goal nets
Flexible openings in soccer goal nets can pose risk of head and neck entrapment or strangulation.
Products: 190,000 MacGregor and Mitre folding soccer goal nets sold at Wal-Mart, Ace Hardware, and sports and toy stores nationwide from 05/02 through 05/08 for $26. Both goals have a foldable white frame with white net. MacGregor goal is model 97236 and Mitre goal is model 89186. Regent Sports has had two reports of head entanglement, including the strangulation death of a 20-month-old whose neck was caught in a net.

Simplicity drop-side cribs
Drop side can detach or partially detach, creating a gap that can lead to entrapment and suffocation.
Products: 600,000 Simplicity cribs sold nationwide from 01/05 through 08/08 for $150 to $300. Recalled model numbers include 8620, 8745, 8748, 8755, 8756, 8778, 8810, and 8994. Model names include Aspen and Crib N Changer Combo, G0abrielle, Camille, Providence, and Shenandoah. Only the name “Simplicity” can be seen on the headboard.
What to do: Stop using the crib and return it. Retailers include AAFES (800-866-3605), Babies “R” Us (800-869-7787), Burlington Coat Factory/Baby Depot (www.babydepot.com), Meijer Distribution (866-280-8419), Nebraska Furniture Mart (800-359-1200), Shopko (800-791-7333), Target (800-440-0680), and Wal-Mart (800-925-6278).
