RECALLS & safety alerts

Automobiles and Equipment

'07-'08 Infiniti/Nissan various models
Vehicles equipped with certain occupant classification system (OCS) control units have an electronic component in the unit in the passenger seat cushion that might have been made out of specification. Under certain conditions, the signal between the OCS and air-bag control unit (ACU) could be interrupted, and the air bag could be suppressed and not provide enough crash protection.
Models: 204,361 '07-'08 Infiniti EX35, G35 sedan, G37, Nissan 350Z, Altima, Murano, Rogue.
What to do: Dealer will test signal from the OCS and ACU and, if necessary, replace seat cushion with one manufactured to specification. Call Nissan at 800-647-7261 or Infiniti at 800-662-6200 for information.

'98-'03 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
Hose clamp used to secure power steering fluid cooling hose to power steering fluid cooler might not have enough clamping force for connection. Loss of power steering fluid might result in diminished power steering and damage to the power steering pump, leading to loss of control and a crash without warning.
Models: 102,954 Mercedes-Benz M-Class.
What to do: An earlier recall repair performed on the model might not be enough to prevent future leakage or failure. Because inspection cannot identify vehicles that might not have been properly repaired, all vehicles repaired prior to Nov. 15, 2003, will be repaired again by the dealer. Call Mercedes-Benz at 800-367-6372 for details.

What to do: Do not use the grill. Check whether burner hose is to the rear of heat shield. If so, grill has been improperly assembled. Call Fiesta at 866-740-7849 for list of recalled models and to get replacement hoses and assembly instructions.
