Consumers Union awards won: 1978-1972

1978
· Consumer Reports received the Science Writers Award for magazines from the American Dental Association.
1975
· Consumer Reports received a National Magazine Award in the category of Public Service for its three-part series on drinking-water quality.
· Consumer Reports received the George Polk Memorial Award for "Outstanding Magazine Reporting" for the series entitled "Is the Water Safe to Drink?" published in June/July/August 1974 issues.
· Consumer Reports was awarded a Certificate of Merit from the American Bar Association for its three-part series "A Guide for Renters" published in October and November 1974. The citation, made in the association's 1975 Gavel Awards program, describes the series as "a distinguished contribution to public understanding of the American system of law and justice" and "a noteworthy example of public service enterprise."
· Consumer Reports received the Consumer Federation of America Outstanding Media Service Award.
· Consumer Reports won the American Heart Association's Howard W. Blakeslee Award for its story on "High Blood Pressure: What To Do When Your Numbers Are Up," published in the October 1974 issue.
1972
· Consumer Reports received the Science Writers Award for magazines from the American Dental Association.
