Why We Need Your Support

  • Consumer Reports accepts no advertising or corporate contributions. We purchase everything we test at retail prices. Your contributions enable us to maintain that impeccable integrity.
  • We face the same financial pressures as other non profits. In fact, we face even more, because our commitment and responsibilities are so expansive, and because our policies against advertising and corporate funding are so iron-clad.
  • The dedicated professionals at Consumer Reports work tirelessly on your behalf every day. We are the largest and most trusted consumer product safety organization in the world, and our efforts have never been more important.  Your support makes all our work possible.

  • Consumer Reports’ shopping list includes SUVs, trucks, minivans, and station wagons, TV’s and tablets. cell phones, computers, home entertainment centers, washers and dryers, vacuum cleaners, lawn tractors, digital cameras … even frozen pizza!
  • We have over 100 technical experts testing products daily.
  • We never accept advertising or corporate support.

Keeping Consumers Informed

  • We provide our safety information to consumers free of charge. But the research and reporting that goes into our safety information is costly to our organization.
  • The mission of our Safety & Recalls initiative is to reduce the number of unsafe products in the marketplace and in the homes of consumers.
  • The generosity of CR donors provides the resources we need to address critical issues on consumer safety and education. Thanks, in part, to this support and our intense efforts, the Consumer Product Safety Commission rolled out a public-safety incident database that allows consumers to file personal safety complaints about products and read about problems others have had. This is an example of how we work on your behalf, bringing you the information you need to be an informed consumer. Visit Consumer Product Safety/Recalls for up-to-the-minute news.
  • Tens of millions of children are needlessly exposed to unsafe products and foods.
