| About This Brand |

Samsung is a top-tier manufacturer in several product categories. It's often an innovator, as it was one of the first to include a Blu-ray player in a home-theater-in-a-box system, and among the first to offer a 3D-capable Blu-ray player. |

Comment:
I bought this player to replace my older BD-C5500 which was beginning to show it's age - choking on newer discs, barely able to play back the content. The newer BD-D6500 handles discs like Avatar much better. It did have to run the disc for awhile to load the content, but the menu showed up a lot quicker than the 5500. The player did warn me that no storage was avaialble, however, this will be remidied with a small 2GB thumb drive. I do not have a 3D TV so I do not have any information on the 3D performance. The sound quality is MUCH better than the 5500 regarding to HD Audio - DTS Master Sound and Dolby True HD. The sound on the 5500 sounds a lot more compressed. The D6500 coupled with my Samsung HW700B receiver sounds natural and full. The center channel now sounds like it is center and not spread among the front stage of speakers. Surround is very pronounced and precise. Streaming is another strong point as Samsung has most of the apps avaialble like Netflix, Hulu and VUDU (My favorites). Many other alternative apps are avaialble as well. This model only has 1 HDMI output so If you're looking for two HDMI's for maximum 3D and High-Def sound flexibility, you need to upgrade to the BD-D6700. This series of models appears to be on the way out, and I got mine for [$] at a local [@]. Newer models are likely to be on the shelves just a couple of months from this writing. I hope this review was helpful!
