I used this product about every two to three days. Had it about four months, then all of a sudden it would shut off by itself. Tried turning it back on, but it would turn on and then shut off right away. Tried several times, but the same thing happened. Going to try a different brand, LG may have good phones, but their DVD players need improvement. I had a Sanyo DVD that lasted 5 years before it failed (with the same usage)...... LG four months....... Sanyo, $50; LG, [$]..... Go figure.....

Comment:
This unit replaced a 10 year old Phillips DVD player that was attached to my Sony Bravia HD LCD via S-Video cable. After replacing the DVD player and using the same S-Video cable we noticed a drastic reduction in picture quality. Two major issues appeared, one a moiré pattern within solid colored areas and second edges of smooth cures became stair stepped. Knowing component cable was better quality I switched the connection. This was still disappointing. The same issues but slightly less noticeable. Then I connected the HDMI connection. The picture quality now was no better than my old Phillips DVD player with S-Video output and no HD video up conversion. I'm returning this unit however I have no ideas on replacement.
How long have you owned it:

Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
