Comment:
These headphones are a significant step-up in sound quality and fit from the earphones that came with various models of iPods in our family. They sound fine, with decent bass response. The fit very well in my ear -- the small protrusion from the speaker helps keep them in place comfortably. My son destroyed these with frequent use and insertion into pockets, but I've had no problem with mine in gentler application.

Comment:
I'm surprised these haven't caught on to a greater degree, given the price (cheaper than the Sennheiser CX300s though rated about the same) and favorable reviews. They're the perfect compromise for listeners who don't like the idea of inserting an object into their ear canal (I've met quite a few, especially among women, who tend to be non-earphone fans). The Sony's are membrane phones (that hang loosely from the outer membrane of the ear) with a difference: they insert slightly into the outer part of the ear canal, just enough to provide a somewhat more secure fit. If you wish an even more secure fit for exercising, shopping, etc., look for the similar Sony's that come with side braces attached for holding them against the ear. Also, check out the comparable Sony ED10LP to save at least 5 bucks. The 21s have an extra large diameter bass driver of 16mm (compensates in part for the loose seal). But the cheaper Sony's (often under ten bucks) will get the bass frequencies with the accompanying braces or if the listener is relatively sedentary.

Strength
Good performance across the spectrum. Comfortable
Weakness
Another person tried them and found them uncomfortable.
I've owned less expensive Sony earbuds and have figured 'you get what you pay for.' Based on a review in 'a leading consumer magazine' I decided to try these, and they are a much better buy.
