I was able to set-up this unit fairly easily.
I did buy thicker speaker wire since the included wires are ridicuosly sized for this system.
It improved speaker response dramatically! Also, when setting up the system, I switched the front speakers from LARGE to Small(factory setting??)not sure why this is a default setting. All in all a great system that sounds 3 times as expensive.
My sound engineer friend calibrated the system to better fit my space and she coulnd't believe how rich and clear the sound is.
For the price; there is no better system out there right now!!
awsome sound. after i bought this i told myself i would never have to go to the theaters again. it took a little while to set up but was easy. i have it wired to a 46" samsung LCD and a PS3. i got both of the optical cables for 40 bucks. just a great investment.

First of all, this system retails for [...] in Canada. Set up was fairly easy, however I was disappointed in the "pass thru" (referred to in small print) HDMI setup. I originally bought a cheaper Onkyo system with no HDMI capabilities and swapped for the more expensive model with HDMI connections for better sound and audio. The "pass thru HDMI" system (which I did not notice nor did the salesperson alert me) means that HDMI signal only carries the video and a separate optical cable input is necessary for the audio. This doesn't represent true HDMI and I think is a failing of this system. As well, the receiver at times does not recognize the BLURAY and I get an error message indicating "Mode Not Supported" even though all is connected correctly as per the manual. I have to shut everything down (receiver and all) and restart all components including the BluRay which will then exhibit the picture and sound. It does not seem to be very stable to me, and I am somewhat disappointed with the operation of this system. It is not a true HDMi supported system, and for the money, I might consider something else.
