Comment:
I was at the store to get the Bose-301 until I was able to compare these side by side. For the cash these are a no brainer plenty of bass, my son snatched em for his system,( I ordered another pair) and he has yet to blow them out with the boom boom boom. The speakers are made of Kevlar so light and strong = response. We have these set up inside for the home theater, and on the patio for pool side. They are not indoor outdoor rated but under cover it seems ok as the speakers are not paper. These are 3 way speakers, very punchy, yet clear enough to listen to the TV and clearly understand the dialogue at low volume. Consider this I got these Sony's online for [$], The BOSE 301 are $328.00, I can but 4 sets of the Sony for the same price, same if not better sound...you do the math. Don't get me wrong the Bose are great, and have snooty appeal brand name, for great sound on a budget You will love the Sony.

Comment:
I am very satisfied with the SS-B3000 speakers. They have just as good or better frequency response compared to more pricey Brands. They have good lows, midrange, and Hi range. If you are going to use these speakers for a home stereo;I recommend a powered sub-woofer. These speakers fit my new Sony receiver(STR-DH810)very nicely!

Great sound for their size

Is it possible to have high quality sound for under $100? Yes, and these Sony SS-B3000 are proof. I bought these as my primary stereo system speakers and also hooked them up to a TV which receives several digital music channels via cable. At 21 inches tall some may consider these a bit large for bookshelf speakers. I prefer to think of them as small floor speakers.
