Bought these to replace an aged pair of Pioneer floorstanding speakers. The difference in sound was phenomenal--extremely realistic with no detectable distortion. I use these for 2-channel stereo with a Technics SX-110 receiver and listen to vinyl and CDs. Our TV/DVD is routed through this combination so I don't have a true home theater, but the sound for movies and TV shows is extremely good. If I upgrade to an HT unit, I will definitely add more of the RTi line.<br /><br />Flat response. I have the treble and bass controls set at 0 and have great sound across the full range. Bass is good for such small speakers, but those who want gut-throbbing bass probably should consider a sub-woofer.<br /><br />I auditioned a pair of Bose 301s at their Cincinnati store and for the same price, these sound much better--the 301s have a weak midrange; I felt like something was missing. The Polks are better made with a real wood finish vs. woodgrain vinyl. I have the cherry wood finish and it is gorgeous. Can't say enough good things about these speakers. <br /><br />Unfortunately, I couldn't find these locally so I took a chance and ordered from a vendor with a good return policy. Luckily, I didn't need to use it.
