The CENTON 2GB Mp3 player (Red) is a pleasantly designed piece of junk for my purposes. I do not listen to short music files, but rather to podcasts of varying lengths and this player seems incapable of dependably playing large files. I therefore tried splitting them into smaller files (20 min. each) but still have periodic freezes where the only cure is to pull the battery. If I can't trick it into starting another track upon restart then it simply refreezes until I can plug into my computer and remove the offending file. At that point I can try again but it is very inconvenient when I am working on something or on a long drive. I have returned to my old 1GB Sandisk player as it at least works.

An additional comment I feel I must make concerns the software that the player insists on installing. No matter what I try, the loader that pops up claims to be out of memory and will do nothing. Dragging and dropping works correctly and this would be a nice player if I could trust it to play the files I enter. It also seems to drain the battery even when shut off.

In short, if you wish to only play short music files this may be an adequate player; the sound is not bad and I have had no problems with small files. Good luck, personally I will avoid the Centon name in future.
