About - Canon EOS Rebel T1i

The EOS Rebel T1i is a 15-megapixel camera with a kit lens that has a 35mm-equivalent focal length range of 28.8mm-88mm. It has a live-view 2.8-inch LCD (307,000 pixels). It also includes a through-the-lens viewfinder, which is helpful when composing in bright light.

Because it accepts interchangeable lenses, and includes a mirror and a through-the-lens viewfinder, we consider this model an SLR.

The camera's kit lens has a maximum aperture of f/3.5. The camera's shutter speed range is 30 seconds to 1/4000 of a second.

The EOS Rebel T1i stores photos and video on SD/SDHC memory cards but has no on-board storage. It captures images as JPG or RAW files at a top resolution of 4752 x 3168 and full HD-resolution video as MOV files at a top resolution of 1920 x 1080.

Like most digital cameras, this model comes with a proprietary rechargeable battery.

This SLR has 9 autofocus points. It also includes 2 flash modes (for the on-board flash), 6 exposure modes, and an exposure compensation control that can be set at +/-2 EV. The image stabilization system for this camera is lens-based.

The EOS Rebel T1i measures 5.1 inches wide by 3.9 inches high by 5.5 inches deep, and weighs 28 ounces (1.7 pounds) (with battery, memory card, and strap).

About This Brand

Canon is the market leader in point-and-shoots, with an extensive line of models, which are known as PowerShots. Its budget line, the A series, is made up of compacts and subcompacts.  Canon's subcompacts are known as SD ELPHs. Its SX-series are mostly super zooms and come in various sizes and include smaller or larger feature sets. Canon has the D-series compact, which is waterproof and shockproof. Its high-end series, the S and G lines, include special modes and manual features, such as the ability to shoot RAW files and to focus manually. The EOS Rebel series helped to define budget SLRs. Other SLRs include a host of pro and more-advanced consumer models, including models that have very large, full-frame sensors. Canon also offers a wider selection of lenses than most brands.

Comment:
I have owned this camera since it came out and have never an issue with it. I use it mainly to take macro shots, landscapes and pictures of my kids, including lots of sports photography. With my IS telephoto lens I can get some great action shots. Like that it has a RAW + jpeg option which allows me to have quick photos I can share, while giving me a chance to really work with the photo if I want.

Comment:
Used 35mm film until my wife bought me this gem. I do architectual photography and I have to say I am blown away. It has an intuitive interface, holds a charge forever and can give you just about any shot you want without moving up to a more expensive full frame camera. The trick is to buy good glass for it. The stock lenses are fine but this thing shines bright when you put a high quality lens on it.

Comment:
I use the Canon for everything: sports, family, travel, etc. Nice and bright viewfinder (I'm old school and prefer to bring it up to my eye to shoot.). Excellent lens selection and quality. I only use the video for emergency use. Been shooting Canon since 1966 and have never been disappointed.
