About - Ceiva share

The Ceiva share is part of the digital picture frame test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, digital picture frame models like the share are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Picture quality:
Picture quality includes image clarity, color accuracy, and contrast. It's based mainly on the judgments of a panel who viewed photographs on each device, as well as lab measurements including viewing angle.

Viewing angle:
Viewing angle indicates the quality of images when viewed from 45 degrees of the center line both horizontally and vertically. This is important if you are standing above the frame and looking down, sitting at an angle to the frame, or sitting with the frame positioned above you. Viewing angle is calculated into the picture quality score.

Versatility:
Versatility mainly includes characteristics that aid in versatility and convenience. Those include the presence of hardware and menu-based navigation features. Also considered are the number of memory-card and USB slots; built-in memory; brightness, color, and contrast controls; removable picture frames and any extra frames included; audio and video playback; audio and video connections; PC-to-device image transfer speeds; number and duration of slideshow timings; the ability to delete images; and handling of non-compatible image formats.
About This Brand

Comment:
CU should really put this in its own unique category.
The Ceiva is a one-of-a-kind. I concur with all the previous reviewers. If you have a computer illiterate friend or relative that you would like to share pictures with then this is the device for you.
I've sent one to my sister. Lately I've been uploading a 'blank' white photo that I then key into to create a quasi-email. This adds to the value.
If I had a complaint it would be that the uploading of pictures takes a little getting-used-to and sometimes a mis-clicking causes a lost effort. But indefense the Ceiva people keep improving the web server.

Comment:
I bought a very early version of this Ceiva frame for my mother who is in assisted living almost ten years ago. It lasted well until last year. At Christmas time I upgraded to this newer model.

My Mom, 80+ now, will never learn to use a computer. But with this she gets new great photos delivered straight to her living room via this frame. Her grandchildren live all over the country and this item really fits this 'niche' market.

Comment:
Have been sending pictures to my Mother (grandmother to our children) for the past ten years using the Ceiva frame. She does not, and will not ever, learn to use a PC. This is the perfect solution! All that is needed is a phone line. The frame automatically dials-in and downloads photos every morning (or any other customizable time). Is there any competition? This product merits a MUCH higher rating due to its unique standing among its competition.
