This lens is designed for the casual shooter using a Sony APS Alpha camera. It is very affordable (buy it on sale and save even more) and very light weight. Plastic mount lenses get an undeserved bad rap. Look, unless you are a pro, don't worry about the plastic mount. It is perfectly durable for the traveler. Don't forget, you are trading off the metal for weight savings!<br />This lens is an underrated gem for the Sony Alpha line. Takes terrific shots that most people would not know the difference compared to a Sony Zeiss zoom or any other brand of lens.
