Like most color printers, the Lexmark Prospect Pro205 has a memory-card reader, which can accept these types of memory cards: Memory Stick, MultiMedia, Secure Digital, xD-Picture Card. It has PictBridge for direct printing from cameras. You can connect directly to a PC with a USB cable, or to your network router wirelessly with Wi-Fi. This model has built-in faxing, can store incoming faxes if the paper runs out, and can send faxes from an attached PC. |

I've had this model printer for 1 year and 1 week. The print head started giving me problems about 5 months after I bought it. The factory sent me a new printhead and the problems continued so in October they sent me a new printer. <br /><br />The factory called me to discuss how I used the printer. They told me that i had printed approximately 200 pages since i bought it and thought that I might be using it outside. I told them i work in an air-conditioned space which is at a constant 74 degrees F. They sent me a full set of ink cartridges to atone for their sins. I was happy. New printer, free ink, life is good.<br /><br />This week it stopped printing yellow, and finally the black died. When this happens i put new ink cartridges in it. That does not fix it. I spent another hour on the phone with the help desk. They are sending me a new printhead.<br /><br />I didn't mention that approximately 30% of the time when i want to print something i get a printer is not connected error which is fixed by trying to print again and again and again...<br /><br />Stay away from this product it will bring out the worst in you.<br /><br />Do what I'm about to do. Look at all the other printers CR has reviewed and go with the one that is reliable.

Comment:
Bought this model based on previous Lexmark ownership. Print quality is great, but only when it works. December '10 I bought two - one as a gift for daughter and one for myself. She replaced hers inside a month due to issues getting it to print colors. I stuck with mine after customer support fixed my color issue with a new print head (it switched to printing envelope addresses in green no matter what I did in settings although everything else workded OK). Problem returned two months later; they replaced the whole printer under warranty. Problem reappeared last week. Junking it and going with a competitor.

Comment:
This printer never worked properly. It couldn't be relied upon to do a print job properly. It consumer incredible amount of ink and the colors were completely off. I am forced to replace this printer even though I've had it for only one year.
