Networking The ability to connect to a home network for printing from a computer either via an Ethernet or a WiFi connection. Ethernet is the common wired network and WiFi is the wireless format commonly found in laptop computers.
We purchased this because it was wireless and would connect with four computers in our home network. Unfortunately, the wireless feature reset itself frequently, which meant that printing would be unavailable until the printer was turned off and then on again - and then whatever computer printed next would be the only one that could print. The ink sensors were constantly flashing, even when we replaced all of the ink (and we replaced the ink constantly, it seemed - that's an expensive proposition!) Turning it off and on meant waiting for the magical cleaning and resetting protocol - which seemed to take several minutes each time. <br /><br />When it worked, it worked well - we've printed photos, labels for our homebrew, cards, gift labels, and letters on letterhead; it also prints double-sided and in econo-mode, and so saves paper and ink. But the hassles for two people to use this machine, in a household that prints fewer than 30 pages a week, was just too much. We happily took it to the electronics recycling center.

Comment:
Like most reviewers, I was suprised at how fast the cartridges ran out. This is an Office jet, but I'm buying all new color cartridges about every 4-6 weeks - so figure about $25 a month to use it. It also occasionally clicks and clanks for a while before printing. I now know to check cartridge size before buying.

Comment:
Purchased HP Officejet 6000 for casual family printer. Usually print 10-12 pages or so per week. Ink usually lasts only a couple of months. HP says ink dries out in our desert climate; nothing can be done except purchase more ink. Of course. Never had that problem with previous HP inkjets. We are NOT happy with this printer nor with HP. Evaporation? Next they'll be telling us they won't make a driver for it for Microsoft 8 and beyond... What, it's already true? Goodbye HP.
