Comment:
I have used the Aviva Accu-Chek for over 5 years. My endocrinologist gave the meter to me. My insurance pays for the strips (I pay part of the cost), so it has not been expensive to use. I think it's pretty accurate. When my numbers have been going up, I see a similar rise in my A1C. It took me awhile to get the hang of getting the strip into the meter, lancing my finger, getting enough blood and getting the strip to take enough blood. If you make a mistake, you get an error message, which is irritating. I sometimes have trouble getting enough blood when I lance my finger, especially in the morning. I sometimes have to lance my finger twice to get a sample, which I intensely dislike. I've been told that if I squeeze my finger, I may increase the number on my reading, so I try to avoid that. Mostly this has all become routine to me, but it would be nice to have a meter with strips that require a smaller blood sample. On the other hand, my endocrinologist was listed as one of the top doctors in Denver by other doctors, so I trust her judgment in having given me this meter--twice. I measure once in the morning and usually at night.

Comment:
I have used Accu-Chek Aviva meter since it came out, In fact, I have used Accu-Chek meters for more than 10 years. I test 4 times per day. You cannot find a better or more convenient meter to use. As shown above, the strips are expensive but no more so than the other brand name meters. This meter is rated the best by Consumer Reports and it truly deserves that rating. I know you will be happy with it. I was shocked that one person rated the accuracy as bad. The only way that could be was that there was something wrong with the meter. Accu-chek would have gladly replaced the meter for free.
