I only have 3 of the frying pans.

I bought a set of good stainless steel cookware but there are just times that nonstick works best.

After a lot of research I found and purchased the Scanpan set, a big plus was the coating extends to the outside of the pan so it's dishwasher safe. And now I no longer put them in the dishwasher ;-> more about that later.

These pans work great, but I've found a SMALL amount of oil to be helpful. For me this means that I take a paper towel, sort of wad it up, and put a little bit on the bottom and use the paper towel to wipe down the inside of the warm/hot frying pan before using. That's all it takes to keep it seasoned. I cook crepes in the pans often and use a dab of butter as the oil and wipe out the pan (without adding more oil to the paper towel) between crepes and they never stick.

I tend to baby these pans with plastic/silicone utensils, but my wife has no problem using metal instruments with no appreciable wear.

I like these pans so much that I gave my son a set and have given them as gifts.

Now the reason I quit putting the pans in the dishwasher. I don't think it was hurting the pans, the cooking surface and outside of the pans looked fine after being in the dishwasher – but the aluminum bottom turned an ugly black/grey and would leave marks on surfaces and towels. This can be cleaned off the pans with elbow grease and steelwool pads, but it's not as much fun as you might think.

Now when I'm done cooking, while the pan is still hot, I use the spray attachment at the kitchen sink with hot water and just spray down the whole pan. Hasn't hurt the pan yet, no noticeable warping and it comes clean in seconds.

I've used several different brands and qualities of nonstick frying pans before I got the Scanpans, and was never impressed by any of the other brands. Since purchasing the Scanpan set (about 4 years ago) they are all I use or own anymore.

Do yourself a favor and give them a try.

We are a family of four and cook at least 2 meals a day. We rarely eat out so we use our pans daily and sometimes twice daily. We have owned the 7 piece scan pan classic set for seven years and have added the square griddle and the small frying pan. All but the small frying pan was received as a gift. Every pot and pan has been replaced twice because the non-stick surface starts flaking off after about one year. We always hand wash the pots and pans and always use plastic or wood utensils for stirring / mixing.

The good thing about scan pan is they clean easily and stand behind their warranty when you call them. (they don't respond to emails about the warranty).

I have had my Scanpans for over 15 years and love them dearly. I just recently bought a set for my daughter as a wedding gift. It was all she wanted. The set I bought 15 years ago is heavier than what is being used now. I recently purchased another pan which is thinner material and not as heavy, although so far, it perform just as well. I prefer the original lids which were a heavy glass over the new lids. Anyone who is having trouble with this cookware is doing something wrong. If sticking is a problem they need to reseason their pans. I cook nightly for my family, and have cooked for over 100 people with these pans. I use them on top of the stove and in the oven up to 500d with no problem. Love, love, love these pans.
