I bought 7 piece set for my mom around 2004/5. She was retired cook/chef, she used and abused these pots and a pan and all pieces held up just fine. Mom burnt 3-qt pot with some food in it in 2010. The pot was thrown out before I had a chance to save it. When she passed away I inherited her pots. To have the complete set I went to the same Toronto upscale store and bought 3-qt pot. I noticed that the handle on 2010 pot was thinner, bottom plate was only 1/2 as thick compared with 2005 pots. The bottom print read stainless steel on a new pot. All pieces from 2005 are stamped 18/10 stainless steel. Something definitely changed in 5 years of production of these pots. I used the new pot once or twice and I noticed black pitting on the bottom, it was getting worse with each use. The old original pots don't have any pitting only some scratches you would expect after years of heavy use. I am very satisfied with the old pots and extremely disappointed with the new thinner non 18/10 product.

I actually didn't purchase the 7-piece set, but instead bought the 10-piece set and added some open-stock pieces to it. I switched to stainless steel when I got tired of continually replacing my non-stick stuff when the coating kept coming off, and I was wondering what was leaching into our food. This set is beautiful, and is pretty easy to clean. Usually just regular dish soap and a sponge is all you need, but if I'm cooking pasta or some veggies, I also use Bar Keeper's friend or Cameo stainless steel cleaner. I've had the set about two years, and they still look brand new. One tip to remember--when boiling water for things like veggies or pasta, be sure to add salt AFTER the water comes to a good boil, or you will end up with some fine black speckles on the bottom of your cookware. Unfortunately, a couple of my pieces have these speckles, until I read online somewhere this hint. Still, I love this set, and I'm sure this will be the last cookware set that I'll ever be buying. I am an experienced cook, and this is by far the best cookware that I've ever used that is within my budget. I recommend it!

the price was right for the set, looks are appealling, feels comfy in the hands, balance could be better on the lager pans make it a bit front heavy. the biggest issue i have with this set is the fact that the stack pot after a few boils it started to pit on the bottom, the two saute pans burnt right up discolored on the sides you cannot have the heat up over medium at all. i could pour a gallon of oil or non-stick spray in these and food will still burn on, and it is also a pain when washing them because you have to scrub really hard and soak them but the best trick to getting these pots and pans really clean and is a step you shouldnt have to do is buy (bar keepers friend) i use the liquid version i feel is best and scurb it in let sit for a min or two and should come off with easy. stainless steel pan is not the same as a non-stick pan you do have to oil it up but come on it shouldnt be that bad!!!bottom line is if you dont mind to do a little work cleaning after cooking i would buy this for the price i guess.
