I upgraded to this model to take advantage of the magnesium impeller. I mulch sugar maple leaves and spread them back under the trees. They have proven tough to shred but this model does a respectable job. After 3 years it is still working well.

neaver used for leaf pickup only blowing.
Used a 100 ft orange cord, maybe that was my problem too.

i have owned a Craftsman, also. it vacuums well, will pick up sweet gum balls, but hardly ever picks up even a small stick. i wish it did. my Craftsman was just the opposite - it would pick sticks but not much of the sweet gum balls - odd. wide mouth vac funnel seems to work better than straight funnels. removing the bag requires removing the funnel first, very annoying until you get used to it. it's border line dangerous once you learn to do it quickly as this exposes the impeller (still spinning, i've touched it). the bag DOES NOT EMPTY INTO YARD BAGS easily - BIG CON. the zipper only goes down the side of a good sized bag. on the craftsman, the zipper went down the side and across the bottom, and you could easily dump into a yard waste bag. it does feel more powerful than the craftsman and i believe it mulches slightly better. i have not tested the blower function yet, as i usually rake into a pile first, then vac. i think CR slightly overrated this product or there isnt a huge difference between products.
