Comment:
It is extremely effective on my 40ft. x20ft driveway and walkway. You have to get out before the temp goes above 32F, while the snow is fresh, or the snow will be wet and clog the chute. It starts on the first pull. I winterize it every spring (run dry, then put oil in the cylinder and turn it over several times). I always use gas treatment. Very Satisfied. 4th season. under $350 at end of season 5 years ago. Plastic piece that holds cables broke this year. I made a better one out of steel.

Comment:
I have the Sears (88779) version of this that has the electric start. My ~35 year old two-stage Snowbird cra*ped out after a major snowfall and I was lucky to find this one. It has the same engine (179cc or about 5 HP)as higher rated models; it just lacks some of the bells and whistles. In the long run, simpler may be better since there is less to go wrong. It is fairly light but not as maneuverable as one might expect. The electric start is nice, but obviously limited by an extension cord. It pull-starts easily when it is warm, but not when it is cold. Overall, I am satisfied with it.

Comment:
Purchased this machine as a step up from a singe stage. It did nothing well. It could not throw snow anywhere but in it's own way, the gearing was such that it was simply too slow and it bogged easily.

The wheel hubs on my model were made of plastic and went flat over the summer. Come winter there was no inflating them. I even hauled the machine to a local garage to get the pros to get air in the tires to no avail

This machine is simply garbage and is a poor imitation of proper snow blower. I wised up, and purchased the Ariens reviewed here and could not be happier.
