Cons:
Misfeed, Plastic parts, Trailing Cord, Unreliable, Uses Lots of Line
Best Uses:
Self-torture
Describe Yourself:
Do-It-Yourself
How long have you owned it:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

C'MON Consumer Reports, listen to all the reviews and take this model off your list or at least reflect all these Extremely negative reviews and not reccomend it!

Save your money a buy a good qaulity gas powered trimmer.

The gears broke after a couple uses and would not spin anymore confirming all these other reviews. I replaced it from the local 'Home' store and it did the same thing after a couple months, except its not completely broke, the grears slip when it meets any resistance and grinds along. Yard work is hard enough without this extra punishment.

I use it on a quarter acre of st. augustine grass. What good is power if you cant use it!

DO NOT BUY !!!

Worked Great Until the Pulley Gave Out

Failed after a year
Best Uses:
Hedging, Straight Edging, Trimming Around Rocks, Weeds & Tall Grass
Describe Yourself:
Handyman
How long have you owned it:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I used this trimmer for about 30 minutes every week during the grass-cutting season for South Texas and it did very well until the plastic pulley for the drive-shaft melted. I am not a commercial user and it never got used more than 30 minutes at a time. It's made to look like it's a heavy-duty machine, but it didn't stand up well at all. The pulley should have been made of aluminum, or at least had a ring of aluminum for the outer part of the pulley.

I also had the problem with the line feeding weird, but after a while I figured out how to get the tension right - just in time for the pulley to fail :(

Older B&D models were better

I'm very disappointed in B&D. The first one broke after 1 year and was replaced under warranty. The new one is working for now. The problem with both is the line release. In most cases I have to do it myself. The older models with the single line release did better compared to this dual line setup. Come next spring I plan to get a different brand, sorry B&D.[...]
