Also bought the LST136

Comment:
Also bought the LST136, 36 volt single line trimmer. First one had a defective battery out of the box. Second one worked pretty well. First charge lasted 1/2 hour on the 3 setting (out of six). The 3 setting had plenty of cutting power, even for the taller grass and weeds around the trees. Did most of my 1/2 acre lot. Obviously this doesn't have the power of a gas trimmer but eliminating the use of my corded trimmer is worth it. Lightweight and easy to use. Seems well designed.

Similar model Black and Decker LST136

Pros
Great power
No electric cords

Comment:
I just bought the LST136 (similar to this model but improved) and used if for the first time today. I cut better tnan expected for a cordless. It cut small tree seedlings with woody stems. The battery life is only about 30 minutes on high but the freedome from electric cords is worth it. The battery charge is fast, about on hour so if you run out of juice it does not take long to recharge. I have a large yard and a lot of trees. Electic cords are a real pain. This works as well as my Stihl electric however is much easier to wind and feed the string.

Comment:
I originally read good things about the power of this device so it seemed like a good green alternative to a gas trimmer. It was quiet. It did well trimming small amounts of tall grass and edging around the sidewalk and flower beds; however, I could never quite finish all the trimming I needed to do on one battery charge (I only have a 0.3-acre yard). Within about one year, the battery would not take a charge anymore, and apparently B&D has discontinued this battery. It was an expensive machine for only one year's worth of use.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
