What you can do

Last reviewed: August 2010

Block your account

Tell your phone company to put a cramming block on your account to stop third-party charges. You shouldn’t have to pay a fee for the block.

Scrutinize your bills

Check your past year’s phone bills for unnoticed charges.

Demand a refund

Although Arwe’s Verizon bill directed him to call the aggregator to dispute charges, Verizon gave him a refund for the entire amount.

Complain

Contact the Federal Communications Commission (esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm), the FTC (ftccomplaintassistant.gov), and your state attorney general. Name the phone company, aggregators, and third-party billers in your complaint.
