In our October 2009 report on pellet stoves, two tested units of the Lopi Leyden, $3,600, repeatedly clogged and shut down when we used longer, roughly 1½-inch pellets—something users may encounter because pellet sizes usually aren't marked on bags.
We are now removing our Don't Buy: Performance Problem judgment and have rated it very good overall. Our subsequent tests show that the manufacturer's fix, which involves removing a fuel gate originally added to address poor-quality fuel, appears to correct the problem.
If you experience clogging or other problems with the stove, contact an authorized Lopi dealer.
