OfficeMax is recalling about 216,000 chairs because the back and base post could break, causing the user to fall and suffer an injury. The company, working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, says it has received 35 reports of such incidents, which resulted in 15 cases of injury, including cuts, bruises and concussions.
The recall involves OfficeMax Task Chairs with model numbers OM182 and OM96614. They were sold at the company's stores nationwide and on its Web site, in catalogs, and through direct sales to businesses from September 2003 to July 2008 for $40 to $65. Consumers should stop using the chairs and return them for a refund or other remedy.
