Diabetes is a condition that causes too much sugar to circulate in your blood. It happens when your body stops making a hormone called insulin (type 1 diabetes) or when insulin stops working (type 2 diabetes).
 
 
 
 
 
diabetes, your risk of having a heart attack is increased. Keeping your blood sugar under control is especially important if you have diabetes. So is managing any other risk factors that may make it more likely that you will have a heart attack, such as being overweight.
