Yeast infection, vagina

Key points about treatments
Treatments for vaginal yeast infections usually work well. But some women have a yeast infection that keeps returning, and this can be more difficult to treat.
- The medicines for yeast infections are called antifungals, and most women find they get rid of the yeast infection.
- You can use creams or suppositories in your vagina, or you can take medicines by mouth.
- These treatments all work equally well, but medicines taken by mouth are more likely to have side effects.
- If your yeast infection keeps coming back, your doctor might prescribe a longer course of treatment.
- You can try natural remedies for yeast infections such as yogurt. But there hasn't been enough research to say if they work.
- Many of the studies we found were small and had problems, so they might not be reliable.
