Cleaning Supplies
Fabuloso Multi-Purpose Cleanter, 2x Concentrated Formula
This classic, bright, concentrated cleaner can be used on most home surfaces. In our tests, it was especially good at lifting dirt from floors. It’s strongly scented, but if you’re looking for a bargain, it’s a solid buy, especially at 17 percent off.
Mrs. Meyers Multisurface Everyday Cleaner
Mrs. Meyer’s Multisurface Everyday Cleaner worked well to clean up light-to-moderate messes in our testing. Its scent is light and pleasant. Our tester found that oily and greasy messes required more effort to clean than with some other multipurpose cleaners tested.
Windex Original Glass Cleaner
This well-known glass cleaner left mirrors, windows, stovetops, and glass shower doors absolutely flawless in our testing. It is made with ammonia, so avoid using it on tinted windows or other surfaces that may be damaged.
Persil Sensitive liquid laundry detergent, now $5 less than last week, is a Green Choice product, meaning it has a lower environmental and health impact due to its ingredients, certifications, and recyclable packaging. In our tests, it excelled at removing chocolate stains from fabrics. It also handled body oil, dirt, and blood very well.

Air Purifiers
If you’re looking for an air purifier for a small room, the Blueair Mini Restful might fit the bill. The Mini Restful earns the CR Recommended designation because it performed very well in our tests. Running at high speed, it aced the dust, pollen, and smoke removal tests, and did nearly as well operating at low speed. It gets a middling score for noise output at high speed, which is common across every model, but it’s actually pretty quiet at low speed, making it a great option for all-day use in, say, a home office.
The Blue Pure 311i+ Max is terrific at removing dust, pollen, and smoke, but expect a bit of noise. It’s easy to use and is designed for use in a large space, 350 to 650 square feet. CR members find Blueair air purifiers highly reliable, and they’re very satisfied with their purchases. The Blue Signature does well, too, though it doesn’t score quite as well as the 311i+ Max. However, this model is rated for even larger spaces. And if you have a small room that needs an air purifier, the Mini Restful model is a great choice.
The portable Blue Pure 211i Max features an indicator light to alert you when you need to change or clean the filter. It also has a dirt sensor and four speeds. On its higher setting, it’s terrific at removing dust, pollen, and smoke, but expect a bit of noise. Try it on low and you’ll have more quiet while still experiencing top-notch results. This model is designed for use in a large space of 350 to 650 square feet and costs about $109 a year to maintain—just more than half that of the Pure 211+. It also weighs just 17 pounds, making it easy to move around. CR members found Blueair air purifiers highly reliable and were quite satisfied with their purchase.
A portable purifier that keeps your air clean and matches your mid-century modern design aesthetic—yes, please. The HoMedics AP-C500 is a large-room air purifier with a budget-friendly price tag (and an additional 20 percent off coupon makes this deal even friendlier). It performs impressively on both high and low speeds and is easy to use. Just expect a fair amount of noise while it’s running.
The HoMedics AP-T200 has impressive performance and an attractive design, similar to the AP-C500. It performs impressively on both high and low speeds and is easy to use. Just expect a fair amount of noise while it’s running. The major difference—this model is designed for medium rooms of 150-350 square feet, so it’s smaller in size and has a smaller price tag.
The Blue Signature is one of our top-rated air purifiers for extra-large rooms. It didn’t ace any of our tests, but it earned high marks for particle removal at high speed and noise levels at low speed. But if you’ve got a room that’s 650 square feet or more, odds are that noise levels won’t be too much of an issue.
Carpet Cleaners
The Bissell Revolution HydroSteam Pet 3432 is a great choice, thanks to its strong performance—it scores very well in our tests for cleaning, drying, and convenience. It comes with a 2-in-1 pet upholstery tool and a 6-inch tough stain tool, making it especially handy if you have stairs to clean or want to use it on large furniture. This carpet cleaner typically costs about $100 more than higher-performing Bissells in our ratings, so it’s definitely better to buy it when it’s on sale.
The Shark CarpetXpert EX201 isn’t exactly quiet—it earned a middling rating in our noise test—but it boasts strong performance in cleaning stains. It also did well in our dryness test and is excellent at removing cleaning solution from carpets. It comes with a hose that’s 60 inches long to get into tight spots.
The Dirt Devil Compact Portable Spot Cleaner, now $12 less at Amazon compared to last week’s sale price, is a light little carpet cleaner at just 9 pounds with a full tank of solution. While the portable cleaners in our tests don’t measure up to full-sized machines in terms of their cleaning abilities, this model did well, especially when it comes to drying. It’s also one of the quieter models we tested. The tank isn’t huge (partly why the cleaner is so light), but if you’re just using it for spills and spot-cleaning, this model will do the trick.
The Hoover SmartWash+ Automatic FH52000 is convenient to handle, adequate at removing red-clay stains from carpet, and outstanding at removing cleaning solution to leave carpets dry, according to our tests. The model comes with a hose and has separate tanks for clean and dirty water. This sale brings the price back down to where it was earlier this summer.
Vacuums
This powerful, high-end Dyson vac, $20 less than last week, features a laser light on its soft roller powerhead that reveals the dust in its path. The laser feature works best in low light or on dark flooring. A sensor detects the sizes of particles that are picked up, and a chart on the display shows the particle count size. In CR runtime tests, the vacuum runs for about 70 minutes per charge on low mode and 8 minutes on high mode.
The Shark HydroVac Pro XL Cordless Mop scored very well in all of our cleaning tests, though our evaluators pointed out it’s not the easiest to clean after you use it. Its battery life is on the shorter side, with an average of 22 minutes, but it’s fairly lightweight, at just 9 pounds.
The price fluctuates quite a bit, but this does tend to be the lowest we see, and Amazon is the only major retailer with this price.
While the Kenmore Elite Pet Friendly CrossOver 21814 might be on the heavier side at 26 pounds, it makes up for it with its strong performance. Compared to other vacuums we test, it’s especially good at cleaning carpets and bare floors. Its suction power also earned an excellent score, the highest in its category.
If you don’t have a lot of carpets at home, it’s worth considering the Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away NV752, which is excellent at cleaning bare surfaces. It’s one of the quieter upright vacuums we tested, and it also scores well for picking up pet hair. The vacuum comes with LED headlights, which can spotlight any debris on the floor while you’re cleaning.

Steam Mops
The GorFanty 10-in-1 MultiPurpose, which typically retails for $100, is an excellent cleaner with a decent steam rate. It takes only 20 seconds for the steam mop to produce steam, and its steam can last for around 10 minutes on its maximum setting. We like that you can adjust the length of the mop to accommodate people of different heights. The mop comes with plenty of accessories, including attachments for cleaning tile grout, clothes, furniture, windows, and carpets.
It’s hard to find fault with the Tineco Floor One S5, which is exemplary at cleaning stains off of ceramic tiles and producing steam. It also scores a very good rating on our convenience test, meaning it’s easy and comfortable to use. The sale price has dropped $10 since last week.
Lawn Care
This Black+Decker BEBL7000 leaf blower has a well-performing built-in vacuum function, making it easy to gather leaves into the included collection bag for composting or easy discarding. The bag connects using a flexible tube, making it easy to handle and maneuver. It’ll move leaves with very respectable efficiency (up to 250mph), and leave little impact on your ears and neighbors. You’ll have multiple speeds at your disposal to tackle any job.
If you want a battery-powered leaf blower that can handle some tough jobs, the Ego LB6504 is a great choice. Plus, the 56-volt battery that comes with this model can power other Ego power tools, like string trimmers, chainsaws, and lawn mowers. This deal is about 20 percent off the regular price, which is decent.
Humidifiers
The low-priced, ultrasonic Levoit Classic 300S can humidify a room up to 505 square feet, which earns it a solid rating in our output test. It aces other evaluations too. It has a variety of features, including automatic shut-off, a digital humidity display more accurate than those of most competitors, and the option to diffuse aromas. It’s currently available for the best price we’ve seen.
This humidifier, rated for small rooms, is a fantastic balance of quality and price. It’s plenty capable, and it has an indicator when the water level is low, so it’s easy to know when you need to add more (and it shuts off automatically if you don’t get there in time).
